Overview:

This tour starts in the main sits in Lhasa, such as the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple. Outside Lhasa, tourists will pay a visit to the Ganden Monastery, Drigung Til Monastery and have a short trek around Chim-puk.

Itinerary

Day 1: Lhasa Arrival

Welcome to Lhasa! Our tour guide and driver will wait for you at the exit of the airport or railway station, and then they will transfer you to your hotel in Lhasa. After you check in, the rest time of today is free and you can have a good rest in your hotel to adjust yourself to the altitude and weather. If you feel to go out, you can have a small walk around the Potala Palace where you can take some photos.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour

In the morning, our tour guide will pick you up to the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of Dalai Lama. It is a magnificent palace and the most valuable collection inside is the gilded stupas of former Dalai Lamas.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Jokhang Temple which is considered to be the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism. Many pilgrims travel thousands of miles in order to make prostrate around the temple.

The Barkhor Street is close to the Jokhang Temple which is a traditional market. You can try some local foods, drink traditional tea and buy some handicrafts. And the welcome dinner will be held in there.

Day 3: Lhasa to Tsedang

After breakfast, your tour guide will drive you to Tsedang which is the capital of Shannan Prefecture. The place has a long history of culture and is said to be “the cradle of Tibetan Civilization”. You will visit the Yumbulhakhang which is the oldest palace in Tibet. And you can have a panorama of the Yarlung Valley.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Trabdruk Monastery with a history of 1300 years.

Stay overnight in a guesthouse in Tsedang.

Day 4: Tsedang to Samye Monastery

Today, you will visit the Samya Monastery which is the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet. It is famous for the unique layout which was designed to be a giant mandala. The main temple stands for the Mountain Meru which is the mythical mountain in Buddhist universe. It is one of the best places to learn the Tibetan culture.

Day 5: Samye Monastery to Chim-puk Hermitage

After breakfast, you will travel to Chim-puk, located in the north-east of Samye monastery. There are 108 meditation caves and once was the retreat for Guru Rinpoche. You will have four hours’ trekking around and please remember to bring some water with you. You will find some Buddhist practitioners doing their practice here. In the late afternoon, drive back to Tsedang.

Day 6: Tsedang to Gongka Airport

It is the end of your tour today. Our tour guide will send you to the Gongka Airport or railway station and help you get on board.
